Six Hour Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) Course: Upon completion of the six hour DDC, New York State Law provides for a minimum 10% reduction in automobile liability and collision insurance premiums for three years and a reduction of up to four points on a driver's record.
I Drive Safely DDC is distinguished from other sponsors (most of whom are out-of-state agencies) with a state specific lesson plan that is referenced with the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Essential information about traffic safety issues such as driver attitude and behavior, defensive driving techniques, and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is presented.
No formal testing is required to complete the course. The DDC is offered at a reduced rate of $50.00. This includes all classroom materials, student workbooks, DMV transmittal to record completion on each student's driving record and certificates mailed to each student for their insurance reduction. The DMV computer will automatically note eligibility to receive the point reduction. This course may be taken once every 18 months for point reduction and once every 36 months to maintain insurance reduction benefits.
